Life, to me, is a canvas waiting to be painted. ‘My Life in Colour’ is not your typical art series. It’s a unique exploration of the seemingly mundane moments that, upon closer inspection, reveal their extraordinary beauty. It’s about finding the art in the every day, the beauty in the ordinary, and the inspiration in the seemingly insignificant.

In January 2020, I had yet to learn what the year would bring. None of us did. But I started with a simple desire to share—to show that even the smallest moments are worth noticing—the green flash of a grasshopper in the garden, the warm ochre of morning coffee, the tranquil grey of a rainy afternoon—moments of inspiration, of life, of the extraordinary design surrounding us.

Colour speaks to the soul in a thousand different ways. Even through the challenges of 2020 and 2021, this truth remained: beauty didn’t stop; inspiration didn’t falter. Colour continued to weave its way through each day, brightening dark corners and highlighting moments of grace.

On my website, you’re not just a reader, you’re a participant. This series invites you to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, notice your life’s palette, and embrace the full spectrum of moments that define you.

This journey through colours isn’t just about appreciating the world around us; it’s about igniting our creativity. Seeing life in vibrant hues can inspire our next design project, influence the palette for a painting, spark an idea for a bold new manicure, or even help select the perfect ensemble of wedding colours. In these splashes of colour, we find inspiration for our most creative expressions.

Moreover, embracing the colours around us reminds us of the ultimate designer – God, as Chris Do eloquently puts it. It’s seeing His handiwork in the hues of our lives, understanding that every shade and tint reflects a piece of divine design. This perspective transforms how we see our surroundings, turning every glance into a search for inspiration and every moment into a potential spark for our next creation. By embracing the colours around us, we not only connect with the world but also with the ultimate source of inspiration, reminding us of our place in the grand design of life.

As we navigate through 2024, let’s continue to find splashes of joy in the everyday. Let’s cherish the little things. Because, in the end, it’s these little things that paint the bigger picture of our lives. Join me in celebrating the hues that bind us, make us feel, and remind us of the endless beauty of being.

And so, ‘My Life in Colour’ lives on – a testament to life’s rich tapestry, to the moments that might mean nothing to the world but everything to us. Because in every shade and moment, there’s a touch of the Great Designer’s grace and inspiration.

HELLO, I'M NELETT

 — a designer, just like you.
Design life is a wild ride. Briefs, deadlines, feedback… and then real life on top of it. School runs. Family. Food. Faith. Feelings. All of it.

But we’re not only designers. We’re whole humans.
So this is a cosy corner for the work and the life behind it — the stuff that actually keeps you going. And if you’ve forgotten it lately: you’re powerful. Not perfect. Not always energised. Just powerful in the real way.
